Empty Bowls

Are you off work on Monday for MLK Jr. Day? Take advantage of your break and have lunch for a good cause. See this message from Beth Nickle, Springfield gifted teacher extraordinaire:

Hi! You are invited to Bailey Alternative High School’s 11th Annual Empty Bowls Luncheon. Please join us on Jan. 18th from noon to one in Bailey’s gym where a $10 donation to The Kitchen, Inc. will allow you to choose a handmade ceramic bowl and be served a simple lunch of soup and bread. The goal of the day is to raise awareness about the issue of hunger in our community and to help The Kitchen, Inc. get needed funds to help those in our community who go to bed each night with empty bowls. Please share this information with anyone you think might want to attend.
Thanks so much.

After all, like the good doctor said: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
